Ellen J. Staurowsky, EdD, is a professor in the department of sport management at Drexel University. I bought this book back in 2007 from Amazon, and it was my springboard into a career into embedded systems (it led to embedded C programming on ARM and MIPS chips). I HIGHLY recommend as an introductory book. You'll learn enough to complete your own projects as I did. True, it's easier nowadays to write your code in C but if you're here then you're probably looking specifically for a book on assembly language. This is it. It's not as hard as you may think. I used this book to write my first lines of firmware.

I dont think this is a good intro book. The book is a bit disorganized. .For example in one of the excercise you are asked to diagram how you would connect Led to the microcontroller, but now where did they discus how to diagram. So the excercises arent related to the topic you just read. There are other intro books that will use one microcontroller, one compiler, etc.. throughout the book so that you can follow along, with the understanding that there are other tools available but that will you will learn will cover 90 of what you need to know to use other brands. This book doesnt do that, the author seems hesitant to recomend anything so it can get vagues if you are trying to follow the text and are using something different then what the author is using. The book is not bad, and it better suited to an advance beginner or intermediate, rather than a true beginner. Here is an example of where an issue may arise with a beginner. In the section "write your first program". Your are told that you will be writting a simple 3 line program as follows:Start call Init ;Main bsf porta,0 ; turn led ongoto Main ; loops backYou are then told to save the program and then assemble it. Once you assemble it you will end up with errors. If this was truly your first program you may be wondering why it didn't work. Why you keep getting the error when everything you wrote is correct. The chapter failed to inform you that it will not assemble correctly because you don't have your declarations not do you have any look up files. So if your a beginner you may find yourself stuck here for a long time until some one tell you where to get a look-up file, so that the assembler will work. So the book needs some editing, in the area where they have you write your first program they should have the completed source code rather than the 3 lines of code and assume you knew you have to add many other lines of code. Also they should tell you in the beginning all the files you should download before writing your first program. The way the book is written your only going to get errors because you missing many files that are needed to assemble the code. The book needs editing, it has good potential, but they need to re look at the book from the perspective of a beginner and they need to show where you can get the necessary files.The book also has sample programs at the end of the chapter, the issue is that many of the programs have the same error. This tell me that the author did not proof read the work and just copied and pasted the same segment of code onto other programs and thereby giving multiple programs the same error. I checked the website for an errata and none is available. I guess the on the bright side, I have read other intro books on programing pics so I ended up using this book as a sort of excercise book on finding the errors in the code. That can be a challenge as well, so if you have some knowledge of programming pics and want to practice debugging the code this is a book to practice with. If you looking for an intro book there are better books out there.

I had programmed in BASIC and C so I had some programming experience. This book deals with Assembly and is a fantastic introduction. I have run some assembled .HEX files in the past and now can program them myself. The concepts here can be applied toward the newer chips as well. All in all a terrific starting point and a good reference for the future. Definitely a must-have for the PIC hobbiest.

I bought this book being totally new to PICs and bewildered by the amount of information available on the manufacture's Website. It is a great book for anyone new to PICs how learn to program PICs and about PICs in general. However, I had hoped that the author would touch on how to interface the hardware with the software available, unfortunately he barely touches that subject. Undoubtly he feels with the amount of information available it will be unnecessary to do so.Nevertheless, I had hoped that at least he would mention how to use Microchip's software to enter the programs and how to use the software to simulate it on the computer. In that case, I would have given this book a definite 5 star instead of the 4 given.

Excellent book for someone new to PIC programming. The author is clear, precise and to the point with the material. This has been a huge help to me getting starting programming PIC micro-controllers.

When I purchased this book, I was hoping for an introduction that would lay out everything I needed to build and program my first augmented microcontroller, and thats exactly what I got! This book lays out everything needed for an extreme beginner to gain a deep understanding of how to work with microcontrollers. I've found this book extremely useful and recommend it to anyone who wants to get started in robotics or any other field requiring the use of microcontrollers. You can't go wrong!

A nicely written short introductory book on PIC programming. It is definitely on the lean side and by now antiquated. If you can pick it up cheap and are just getting started, it's a good place to start.

I downloaded the Kindle version of this book as soon as I'd opened my new air fryer. The manual that came with the fryer included no recipes whatsoever. I chose this book because it includes lots of information that cover the basics (like how long to cook various vegetables based on size) as well as actual recipes for all kinds of dishes from appetizers to desserts. So happy I got this book! I refer to it every time I use my air fryer.Best Recipes with Clear Instructions

The measly group of recipes that came with my air fryer are worthless, as are the pre-set temp/times. I needed something to get me going and to give me some examples and basics. This book worked for me. And as I gain experience with my new air fryer, I do go back and reference many of the recipes in it.I don't necessarily use the recipes as is. But I do take times and temperatures and use them for my own purposes. The tips included in this book are really helpful, too.

OMG! This cookbook is exquisite! The recipes are out of this world and the photos are stunning. Just looking through the book elicits a mouthwatering yearning to start cooking right this minute. Cliffhanger! Love this series it just keeps getting better. But really how long do I have to wait for book 3?! By the end of the first sentence the pages just disappear. Thank you for some excellent writing!

Gave first 3 stars and liked this one a little more. Similes and metaphors are still abundant as is the description of the weather and training with Gabriel. Started off great! Loved the new kick a** side of Jemma, but she's so wishy washy. Maybe it can be chalked up to her age or everything she has thrown at her, but she has two weeks to get Engel what he wants, yet she seems to forget Taylor completely at times. Mainly when she's with Trace. I don't know if he loves her because he knew he would in the future or why she acts so nonchalant with their connection/his love other than knowing they'll have a stronger one in the future. She is kept in the dark about many things related to her slayer side and it's frustrating she didn't make someone tell her everything all at once. And they almost had sex without even going on a date and only called him "boyfriend" once. I'm not a fan of Tessa, Gabriel's okay, Nikki's still a b, and Dominic is still my favorite.

Seriously when will Jemma learn to ask for help. She is forever going off on her own and no one knows where she is which is so frustrating . If I had a big bad vampire after me I would have acted so differently. She is continually reckless and steamrolling her way over everyone's feelings. Trace is the long suffering boyfriend who loves despite how she is always keeping secrets and going out with other guys, Dominic the typical bad boy with a good heart (only for Jemma)and Nikki the bitch witch who we all love to hate. Dominic reminds of Damon out of Vampire Diaries only less interesting. There is no character development here as she repeats the same mistakes over and over again. This book had potential but Jemma made it far too easy for her enemies to find her. The big secret was revealed and I did have an inkling about what it was but I didn't anticipate the way the story ended. Hopefully the characters will show some depth in the third book as they are stuck being one dimensional so far.

Invidious was a solid five stars for me. Once again I couldn’t stop once I started and wow, I really didn’t see a lot of what happened in this one coming. I really don’t know how Jemma keeps going after everything she’s been through, and I just know things are going to keep coming. The one thing I love about Jemma is no matter what keeps coming her way, she’s shown more than once how strong she is and she keeps on pushing forward. I also love how she wasn’t instantly perfect. Jemma continues to grow with each book and I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen next!

I started this book yesterday and finished it today. Every moment left me wondering what would happen next, every chapter ending made me want to continue on to the next chapter. So many secrets and truths are told and the story continues to get better and better.Usually the second book is hard to get through and usually it's not as good as the first. Well, I do have to say it is just as good as the first, maybe even better. I am excited to continue on with the story especially since this book ended in a huge cliffhanger.The author does a very good job keeping me interested and making me think so much more about each character. I love her writing style because it keeps me interested and keeps me wanting more!

I'm so in love with this book! Jemma is by far my favorite character. I'm on edge right now because I really want to know who took her! So glad she kept Dominic in the story but would love for them to not be together. I'm too in love with Trace and her being together forever!

At the end, Jemma finally seemed to be coming into her own. It was as though a flip was switched and she grew a true backbone when it came to Nikki. I'm not fond of the fact that she still refuses to open up about things and get others to help her. She portrays this self-confidence, but doesn't truly have it when it counts. She puts herself into unnecessary situations, but shes a kid and most teenagers do. With that said, I enjoyed this just as much as the first. I'm excited to delve into the third installment.

Still in love with Trace and Jemma's story and struggle to be together. Fate has a funny way of working against you. The author is a bet repetitive when speaking and describing the fog. I really believe that every single chapter began with something about the fog. I can see where maybe the author is trying to drive the point home regarding the surroundings, but it does get a little annoying. However, it most certainly did not deter me from the story nor will I not finish the series. This storyline is very addictive. Must know what happens!
