After re-reading Geraldine McCaughrean's truly (truly!) wonderful "One Thousand and One Arabian Nights" I bought "Stories from Shakespeare" hoping to have a similar experience with Shakespeare. However, I was disappointed, as "Stories" is a nice retelling, but doesn't use Shakespeare's wonderful language. It is good as an introduction and a way to familiarize yourself with some of Shakespeare's most famous works.

This is lovely. I am excited to use this in future classrooms and with my own children to introduce them to the bard.

MUST READ!!! The first few paragraphs of the first chapter are pretty raw. The words on that page grabbed my attention and pulled me in completely until I had read the entire thing. So many stories and topics were burdens I bare as well. This book offered new perspectives for me so that I may see things as they should be, in a brighter light. Going from the lowest low, rock bottom to the light at the end of the tunnel. This book is all about having a positive outlook on yourself and portraying that. I think it’d be great for teenage girls due to self-esteem issues and bullying. This is a must read!!
