For me this book is just “okayâ€. I was looking for a book to help me understand more about robotics and hoping I could make my own robot. Well, this book have helped me in some way to learn a few basic things that I need to know like, servo motors, dc motors, programming languages etc. But like what this book clearly emphasized about building your first robot, read BOOKS, ask questions and do not just end there find the answer to your questions, read the internet, and do online research and many more. What I’m trying to say is, consider this book as one of your many reading materials and do not solely rely on this book if you want to build a robot. This book may have some relevant information, but believe me it’s not enough. Get this book, but do not end here.
I purchased this book based on other's recommendations for our 12 year old grandson. Made a 'quick scan' of the book before wrapping it up as a gift. It seems to be well written, easy to understand, for young kids, actually anyone, looking to get into robotics and control programming.
Poorly written. Not really for a beginner since it does not give very complete explanations and not for someone with some expertise since it does not really add much. This is more like notes that someone did for a project with incomplete explanations of basics and little or no real information on more complex issues. I plan on returning this book.

I was very happy to find this book when I decided to undertake a robotics project with my children. This is a book ideal for someone who really needs a step-by-step for each component, with a full explanation of what it is, how to read the markings, how to test it, how to install it and so forth. The book does a great job of pacing the material and explaining things so that a beginner can understand. It goes through the parts and components you will need to be able to understand and identify in order to be able to build a robot then walks you through step by step on how to build your first line following robot. The author also does a great job of giving the reader information on tools and components as well as providing good information on how/where to obtain parts. I am proud to say we managed to build our own version of sandwitch and it works perfectly. This book is excellent for beginners in robot building and in understanding the basics of robotics.
